Catholic Answer The answer is not obvious to modern people as they did not understand Mother Theresa, because they do not understand real Christianity. She made sacrifices with great love of God.

Sacrifice beads are a good and helpful devotion, used by St. Thérèse of Lisieux in her childhood, but they are not helpful if you buy a set that you can't hold because the smell is overpowering. Judging by the smell, I would say that these are made of sandalwood. When I bought these two years ago, they didn't have a smell at all, they were /5(11).

“A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, and must empty ourselves. Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in his love than in your weakness.” ― Mother Teresa.

Saint Therese of Lisieux was a happy child who loved Jesus. One day Therese's sister gave her a set of beads on which to keep count of little acts of love and sacrifices offered to God. She would pull a bead when she postponed a treat, or let someone have their way. Therese's mother wrote, Even Therese wants to start making sacrifices now! We invite you to grow in virtue by offering sacrifices.
